Report of one-way packaging
As part of the implementation of producer responsibility for packaging, you must make a so-called batch reporting of your quantities made available in the previous year.
Batch Reporting
You must make two batch reports of your actual available packaging quantities for the period before the producer responsibility for packaging comes into effect (October 2025):
1. Batch reporting of actual available packaging quantities for 2024
2. Batch reporting of actual available packaging quantities for January-September 2025
For companies with quantities over 8 tons:
The batch reports must be made in the material categories you have registered in the Member Portal.
For companies with quantities under 8 tons:
Companies that make available under 8 tons of one-way packaging in a calendar year may choose to only report information about the weight of the total quantity of available one-way packaging in that calendar year.
By April 30, 2025, you must report your actual quantities made available for 2024 in VANA's Member Portal. VANA will then verify your reported quantities and ensure the mandatory report to Dansk Producentansvar (DPA), which must be submitted by May 31, 2025.
After the producer responsibility comes into effect (October 2025), you must report your actual made available quantities for January through September 2025, so VANA can include them in the mandatory report to DPA no later than May 31, 2026. From October 2025, when the producer responsibility comes into effect, you will need to continuously report your packaging quantities to VANA in the Member Portal.

Your continuous reports will be accumulated into an annual report. Therefore, there is no need for multiple batch reports unless you start to make available other/new material categories than those you have already registered. In those cases, you must report your expected made available quantities for the current year at least 14 days before you begin making them available.
What should be reported?
You need to report in kilos for the quantities of commercial packaging and household packaging. This means, in practical terms, that you need to give your best estimate of whether the packaging you put on the market ends up in household or commercial waste – in other words, whether it ends up with a private consumer (B2C) or with a business (B2B).

You should also inform if you know whether the packaging should be sorted as residual waste or hazardous waste.

Changes to Reporting
If you discover an error in the annual report, or subsequently obtain documentation that the packaging has been made available outside Denmark, you can correct the report under certain conditions:
- The changes must be made collectively with the next annual report
- You may only correct for the previous calendar year
- The change must be due to an error or transfer abroad. This must be documented
- All corrections must comply with the rules for the original report
VANA is in the process of clarifying how this will be resolved in practice in connection with ongoing reporting and documentation requirements.
Documentation for Transfer Abroad (Export):
If there are changes to the quantities that have already been reported to DPA, you must send a digital declaration to DPA, filled out by the company responsible for the transfer. VANA is in the process of clarifying how this should be practically executed by our members and is awaiting the format of the digital declaration from DPA.
Companies that directly make packaging available outside Denmark do not need to report these quantities. VANA has encouraged companies that have documentation and knowledge that the packaging will be exported abroad at a later stage not to report either. This is pending guidance from the Environmental Protection Agency.
Eco-modulation - ongoing report from October 2025
The level of detail for the eco-modulated fees and design criteria for each material category is stated in the statutory order on packaging.
