Producer responsibility on single-use plastics: Registration opens 1 October 2024
It is not only packaging that will be covered by the producer responsibility. Certain single-use plastic products must also be registered in the public authority register, and companies which market the products must pay for collection, clean-up and waste treatment costs from 2025. DPA (Dansk Producentansvar) opens for registration on 1 October 2025, and covered companies must register product categories by 17 December 2024.
Who and what must be registered in 2024?
Companies that market single-use plastic products must be registered in the authority register of Dansk Producentansvar (DPA) by 17 December 2024 for each of the following product categories: food containers, packaging bags and foils, beverage containers, beverage cups, lightweight plastic carrier bags, wet wipes, balloons and filters for tobacco products.
The registration itself must be done at DPA, where you also must choose VANA as a PRO (Producer Responsibility Organisation) if you want us to handle the producer responsibility on single-use plastic products for you. Registration is open from 1 October to 17 December here.

Reporting of volumes from 2025
The first time marketed quantities must be reported to DPA is between 1 and 10 April 2025. Here, marketed volumes must be reported for the period 1 January to 31 March 2025. Thereafter, reports must be submitted quarterly between 1 and 10 of July, October, January and April, respectively.
In this connection, you should be aware that some plastic packaging may also be covered by the producer responsibility for certain single-use plastic products.
If you choose VANA as a PRO), you can manage the registration of both packaging and single-use plastics through the Member Portal in 2025.
